Adirondack Phantoms News Release

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - The Hamilton Bulldogs opened up a 2-0 lead after the first period and never looked back en route to a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. Sean Curry and Patrick Maroon scored for the Phantoms, who have now gone seven games without a win after winning seven straight from Dec. 6-20.

The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead 6:12 into the first period. Mike Glumac's shot from point-blank range was stopped by Teslak, but after a struggle in front of the net, David Deshamais was able to put home the rebound to give Hamilton the early advantage.

That advantage grew to 2-0 during a power play with 3:04 remaining in the period. Yanick Lehoux skated into the right circle and blasted a slapshot over the glove of Michael Teslak that grazed the bottom of the crossbar as it went in. The two-goal advantage held at the first intermission.

Curry pulled the Phantoms within a goal just over six minutes into the second period. While operating during a power play, Curry took a pass from the right side and fired a slapshot from the left circle that flew past goaltender Loic Lacasse and in, making it a 2-1 game.

But the Bulldogs answered with 7:25 left in the period with their second power play tally. Tomas Beauregard had a point-blank opportunity in front, which Teslak stopped. But Steve Gainey was able to push his way free in the right side of the crease and poke home the rebound for his first goal in his first game with Hamilton, giving his new club a 3-1 advantage.

The lead grew to 4-1 7:16 into the third period on a slapshot by T.J. Kemp, who was also playing his first game for the Bulldogs after being acquired last week from the Pittsburgh organization. Kemp's blast from the left circle beat Teslak inside the left post for the three-goal advantage.

The Phantoms erased one of the goals with just over 45 seconds left to play. Maroon and Matt Clackson led a rush down ice. Maroon played a pass from the left to Clackson in the right circle. Clackson's one-timer bounced off Lacasse and right back to Maroon, who converted the rebound to make it 4-2 and close out the scoring.

Teslak stopped 34 of 38 in taking the loss, while Lacasse earned the win with 19 saves on 21 Phantoms opportunities.
