
Columbus Reassigns Nikita Filatov and Assigns Stefan Legein to the Crunch

Syraucse, NY (January 6, 2009) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned center Nikita Filatov to the Crunch from the Russian National Junior Team. In addition, Columbus has assigned right wing Stefan Legein to Syracuse.
Filatov, 18, has appeared in 23 games for the Crunch this season, collecting seven goals, 10 assists and 10 penalty minutes. He has also skated in four games for Columbus this season and scored his first NHL goal in his first game, October 17 vs. Nashville.
Filatov recently captained Team Russia to a bronze medal finish at the 2009 World Junior Championships where he led his team and finished tied for fourth in the tournament in scoring with 11 points (8g, 3a) in seven games.
A native of Moscow, Russia, Filatov was drafted by Columbus in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Legein, 20, appeared in two playoff games for the Crunch last season, making his American Hockey League debut on April 26, 2008 in Game Five of the North Division Semifinals in Manitoba. He also skated in 30 games with Niagara (OHL) last year, tallying 24 goals, 13 assists and 80 penalty minutes.
Legein missed 22 games after suffering a shoulder injury while representing Canada at the 2008 World Junior Championships where he registered two points (1g, 1a) and eight penalty minutes in seven games and served as an alternate captain en route to helping Canada to its fourth straight gold medal at the tournament.
A native of Oakville, Ontario, Legein was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
The Crunch's next game is Tuesday, January 6 as they travel to Cleveland to take on the Lake Erie Monsters.
