Brett Finishes with Five Hits, Biscuits Fall to Suns

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ryan Brett finished with five hits, while the Biscuits (16-9) led on two different occasions before stranding the tying run in scoring position in the ninth inning in a 4-3 loss in the series-finale with the Jacksonville Suns (13-13) on Monday morning at the Baseball Grounds.

Brett led off the game with a bunt single. He would later score on a sacrifice fly from Cameron Seitzer. Brett then singled in the third and drove in a run with a double in the fifth to give the Biscuits a 2-1 lead. In the seven inning, Brett tripled-in a run to tie the game at three for his fourth hit. In the ninth, the second-baseman was able to pull a groundball into left field for his fifth hit of the game. He was stranded on second to end the game.

Brett is the first Biscuit to collect five hits in a game since Desmond Jennings in 2009.

The Suns rallied throughout the game. Rich Poythress homered in the second to tie the game at one. Isaac Galloway drove in two runs with a single to give the Suns a 3-2 lead in the third, then J.T. Realmuto hit a solo shot in the eighth to give the Suns their final 4-3 lead.

The Biscuits out-hit the Suns 13 to seven. Joey Rickard finished with three hits.

The Biscuits start a five-game series with the Huntsville Stars on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. RH Victor Mateo will be on the hill while the Stars will have RH Tyler Cravy on the mound.
