JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Ryan Brett finished with five hits, while the Biscuits (16-9) led on two different occasions before stranding the tying run in scoring position in the ninth inning in a 4-3 loss in the series-finale with the Jacksonville Suns (13-13) on Monday morning at the Baseball Grounds.
Brett led off the game with a bunt single. He would later score on a sacrifice fly from Cameron Seitzer. Brett then singled in the third and drove in a run with a double in the fifth to give the Biscuits a 2-1 lead. In the seven inning, Brett tripled-in a run to tie the game at three for his fourth hit. In the ninth, the second-baseman was able to pull a groundball into left field for his fifth hit of the game. He was stranded on second to end the game.
Brett is the first Biscuit to collect five hits in a game since Desmond Jennings in 2009.
