Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons and Chattanooga Lookouts saw their game be suspended Monday with theBarons leading 6-2 in the seventh inning.

Micah Johnson led off the game with a double and scored a batter later on a sacrifice fly by Trayce Thompson. After the Lookouts scored single runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-1 lead, Thompson would tie the game in the fifth on a solo home run. The homer was his second long ball of the season.

As they did in Sunday's game, the Barons took the lead for good in the seventh getting an RBI double by Rangel Ravelo, a two-run single by Chris Churley and an RBI double by Michael Earley to take a 6-2 lead. Ravelo, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles on Sunday, finished 3-for-3 on Monday with two more doubles.

The game was then suspended with runners on first and third and the Barons leading 6-2 in the 7th. The game will be resumed on Monday, May 26th at Regions Field from the point of the postponement. All stats and records will not be final from this game until it is completed on the 26th. Due to Southern League rules, the game could not be considered final because the teams were tied entering the final inning and Chattanooga was not given an opportunity to bat.

The Barons have an off-day on Tuesday before returning to Birmingham to begin afive-game series against the Mobile BayBears on Wednesday at Regions Field. The Barons will send RHP Nick McCully (2-0, 2.21) to the hill in game one against RHP A.J. Schugel (1-0, 3.80). First pitch is scheduled for a 7:05 PM CDT.
