Ramirez Homers in Stars Loss

Kodak, TN-The Huntsville Stars were held to just four hits Monday night in a 4-1 loss to the Tennessee Smokies at Smokies Park. The Stars dropped the final two games of the series after winning the first three. The Stars still won the series over the Smokies.

The Stars took a 1-0 lead on Nick Ramirez's two-out solo homerun in the first inning. Ramirez hit three homeruns in the series and now has five on the season.

The Smokies scored all four of their runs off Huntsville starter Brent Suter(3-1) in the sixth inning. With runners at first and second base and nobody out, Zeke DeVoss bunted towards the third base line. Suter fielded the bunt, threw wildly of Ramirez at first base. Charlie Cutler and John Andreoli both scored on Suter's throwing error. Kris Bryant and Raffi Lopez both produced RBI doubles in the inning as well.

Suter, who suffered his first loss of the season, pitched five innings allowing four hits on three runs. He struck out four while walking one.

The Stars are now 15-10 on the season and continue to lead the Southern League North standings by three games.

The Stars continue their ten-game road trip with their five-game series starting Tuesday night in Montgomery, Alabama against the Montgomery Biscuits, the Double-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. RHP Tyler Cravy(3-1, 2.33) will start for Huntsville. Montgomery will send RHP Victor Mateo(3-2, 3.38) to the mound.
