Breaking Down the XI | Formation Change in Toronto
August 10, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Orlando City SC News Release
Orlando City has made the trip to Canada is ready to take on Toronto FC in a crucial matchup in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race.
James O'Connor will deploy a 4-2-3-1 tonight, a formation not often seen from Orlando City in 2019.
In goal, do we even need to mention it anymore, it's the sturdy Brian Rowe making his 23rd start of the season.
Ahead of him, there are a few changes in the backline. With João Moutinho out due to injury, Kamal Miller will fill in at left back. The rookie center back has played the position well this season in limited duty. The center pairing will look familiar with Robin Jansson and Lamine Sané. To their right, Kyle Smith will fill in for Ruan, who is on the bench tonight. Ruan has logged about a million miles on the right flank this season, so my guess is this is a precautionary move.
In the defensive midfield, Carlos Ascues and Uri Rosell should provide a great link to City's attack.
In front of them, Chris Mueller, Nani, and Robinho will look to lead the charge. Nani will play in the hole and look to dictate Orlando's tempo. Tonight will be Robinho's second start for City after being acquired from Columbus.
Up top, Dom Dwyer will be isolated and look to take advantage of space created in the midfield.
Watch tonight's match LIVE on My65 or Youtube TV if you are in the Orlando Metro area, or on ESPN + nationally.
Starting XI presented by Orlando Health: Rowe, Miller, Jansson, Sané, Smith, Ascues, Rosell, Mueller, Nani, Robinho, Dwyer.
Bench: Akindele, Kljestan, Michel, O'Neill, Powers, Ranjitsingh, Ruan
