Gwinnett Stripers News Release
Richmond, VA - Richmond Braves manager Dave Brundage's benefit auctions underway now at http://www.rbraves.com/auction/ end tomorrow. Dave is offering dinner with a winning bidder and three family members and an hour session with a youth baseball or softball team. The auction for dinner with Dave is up to $700. The youth baseball session stands at $160. 100% of the proceeds of these auctions will be donated to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to honor the victims of the April 16 shootings at Virginia Tech. The auctions end at 10 PM Thursday.
Brundage approached the R-Braves front office following the conclusion of the Braves game-worn Virginia Tech hat auction hoping to contribute on a personal level. The two auction items are the result of his ideas. "Talking Baseball with Brundy" is available to youth baseball and softball teams. The entire winning team will visit The Diamond for an hour with the Braves manager. He will take the team on a tour of the clubhouse, offer baseball instruction, and have a question and answer session on life in pro baseball. The second auction item is dinner for the winning bidder and three family members with Dave Brundage at a Richmond area restaurant.
Virginia Tech has established the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund to aid in the healing process and generate financial support. The fund will be used to cover expenses including but not limited to: grief counseling, memorials, communication expenses, comfort expenses, and incidental needs.
