Bravehearts rally to beat Sharks

Worcester Bravehearts News Release
Oak Bluffs - Despite sweeping the Martha's Vineyard Sharks in the 2014 FCBL Championship Series, the Worcester Bravehearts had previously lost seven straight regular season games to the Sharks dating back to last season.
That all changed when the Bravehearts collected a 3-2 victory over the Sharks on Saturday night, June 20 at The Shark Tank in Oak Bluffs. This win is Worcester's third in a row and puts the team at a record of 5-10.
Despite giving up two runs in the first inning, Bravehearts starter Bobby Maxwell (LIU Brooklyn / Otisville, New York) settled down and collected the win by holding the Sharks to just two runs on four hits and striking out four in six innings of work.
The Bravehearts broke through for three runs in the seventh inning by loading the bases for left fielder Logan Brown (Slippery Rock / Leechburg, Pennsylvania) who tied the game by hitting a 2-RBI double. In the next at bat, Willie Allen (Louis-Clark State / Boston) hit an RBI single to score third baseman Mike Coggeshall (Assumption / Shrewsbury) and give the Bravehearts the go-ahead and game-winning run.
Martha's Vineyard reliever Mike Parmentier (Norfolk State University / Suffolk, Virginia) took the loss, as he was responsible for the game-winning run. For the second time in as many games, reliever Adam De La Cruz (Cochise / Bronx, New York) picked up the save, as he collected the final two outs and stranded the Shark's tying run at third.
Worcester returns home for a Father's Day matchup at 5:05 p.m. June 20 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. The Bravehearts will host the first of several charitable fundraisers this season, as players will wear commemorative March of Dimes jerseys, and fans will have the opportunity to bid on them in a silent auction on the concourse during the game. The winning bidders will receive the jerseys off the players' backs at the end of the game, and all fans can also play catch with Dad in the outfield after the game is over.
For tickets to any future Bravehearts home game, you can purchase tickets at the Hanover Insurance Park box office, online at worcesterbravehearts.com, or call for tickets at 508-438- 3773.
