The WHEAT KINGS will be hoping to close out this week's 3-game Alberta road trip on a winning note tonight when they take on BRENT SUTTER'S REBELS in RED DEER.After defeating the defending champion MEDICINE HAT TIGERS 2-1 on ERIC FEHR'S overtime goal on Sunday night, the WHEATS dropped a 4-1 decision to the red hot HURRICANES in LETHBRIDGE last night.Captain TIM KONSORADA scored BRANDON'S lone goal - a powerplay marker - with just over two minutes remaining in regulation time.KYLE PESS led the 'CANES with two goals and an assist.With the loss, which is only their second in their last eight games (4-2-2), BRANDON'S record slipped to 12-10-5-1, good for thirty points and second place in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Division - three ahead of third place PRINCE ALBERT.BRANDON is 7-4-1-1 at home; 5-6-4 on the road; 2-4-2 against Central Division clubs; 1-1-5 in overtime and 5-3-2 in it's last ten games.Tuesday's loss also snapped a modest two game winning streak..In Sunday's win over the TIGERS, netminder TYLER PLANTE made 32 saves while the WHEATS killed off nine TIGER powerplays including five of six called in the final period by referee PAT SMITH.BRANDON returns home this weekend to play MEDICINE HAT on Friday and SEATTLE on Sunday night.

DYNAMIC DUO GETS THE CALL: BRANDON veterans RYAN STONE and ERIC FEHR will represent the WHEAT KINGS at next week's NATIONAL JUNIOR SELECTION CAMP at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.FEHR was one of five Manitobans selected and one of 21 WHLers chosen to attend camp.Camp begins in Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon at the MTS Centre.

WHOSE HOT? Captain TIM KONSORADA had his career high 13-game point scoring streak (5-16-21) snapped against the TIGERS on Sunday night but has managed to score at least a point in fourteen of his last 15 games.RYAN STONE enters tonight's game sitting atop the WHL scoring race with 43 points, two up on COLTON YELLOW HORN of LETHBRIDGE.ERIC FEHR leads the league with 25 goals and is tied with RYAN KELLER of SASKATOON for third in the league with 39 points.Blueliner STEVEN LATER is seventh in scoring among WHL defenceman (2-20-22). LATER was also November's winner of the JACK FRASER WHEAT KING PLAYER OF THE MONTH.

SPECIAL TEAMS TERRIFIC: BRANDON has moved back atop the WHL with 38 powerplay goals in 154 opportunities (24.7%).ERIC FEHR leads the WHL with fourteen powerplay markers.WHEATS have scored twenty powerplay goals in their last 13 games.Penalty killing, the WHEATS are 12th in the league (84.2%).RYAN STONE is tied for the league lead with three shorthanded tallies.

VS.RED DEER: This is the second meeting of the season between these two teams.BRANDON skated to a 4-2 victory at the Keystone Centre in early October.RYAN STONE scored two goals including a shorthanded tally to pace the WHEATS.BRANDON was 0-3-1 vs. RED DEER last winter and over the past five years, the WHEATIES are 20-34-3 against the REBELS.

MILESTONES: Right-winger ERIC FEHR, who reached the 100 goal mark in early November, recently eclipsed the 200-point plateau in his WHL career.With last week's shutout - the second of his brief WHL career - TYLER PLANTE moved into a tie for ninth place on the club's all time list. Among those that he's tied with include TREVOR ROBINS, TREVOR KIDD and BLAINE PETERSON.TIM KONSORADA has moved to within five points of 200 in his career while MARK SHEFCHYK is five points shy of the century mark.

BRANDON BITS: The last WHEAT KING to win the WHL scoring crown was RAY FERRARO (108-84-192) in 1983-84.WHEAT KINGS have announced that tickets to their four regular season games to be played at the MTS Centre in WINNIPEG in 2005 will go on sale on Monday, December 13th.STEVEN LATER is fifth in the league with 90 penalty minutes.TYLER PLANTE leads all WHL rookies with a .915 save percentage.The OHL's LONDON KNIGHTS will be out to tie the CHL record for longest undefeated streak to start the season (29 games - BRANDON 1978-79), when they take to the ice to meet the RANGERS in KITCHENER tonight.
