Spokane Chiefs News Release

Spokane Chief Defenseman Scott Lynch will have surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.  Lynch has not played since suffering the injury on November 30th at Prince Albert.

"Obviously, this is a huge blow to our team with the amount of ice time that Scott logs and the dimension that he provides," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said.  "It is equally as disappointing for Scott's development in his overage season."

The 20-year-old is the top scoring defenseman on the Chiefs with four goals and 15 points in 25 games.  Lynch set career highs last season with 17 goals and 40 points in 71 games.  In his five year career, the Coquitlam, BC native has played 277 career games and scored 25 goals and 79 points.  Lynch has 421 career penalty minutes.

Lynch is expected to have surgery before Christmas with rehab starting six weeks following.  Typically, full recovery for this injury is six to nine months.

Speltz is in Everett for Wednesday night's 7:00 contest versus the Silvertips and will return to Spokane on Thursday morning for additional comment.

Mike Boyle will go on the air with Comcast Hockey Tonight to preview the Chiefs match-up with the first place Silvertips at 6:30 on 790 the Fan.

The Chiefs will return home to the Arena for weekend games on Friday versus Swift Current and Saturday against the Silvertips.  Tickets for all Chiefs home games are available by calling the Chiefs office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
