Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
LAREDO, Texas - The Brahmas held a 3-2 third period lead Saturday night in Laredo, but for the third straight game, Texas could not hold on, losing 4-3 to the Bucks in regulation.
The Brahmas dug themselves an early hole as Todd Griffith found the back of the net for the Bucks just 28 seconds into the first period. But Texas tied the score as Ryan Hand deflected a Jim Burichin slapshot past Laredo netminder Ryan Rondeau at the 14:32 mark. For Hand, it was his first point as a member of the Brahmas.
Heading into the third period down 2-1 after A.J. Hau's third goal in as many games for the Bucks, the Brahmas quickly tied the score at two behind Jordan Kary's fifth goal of the season. Midway through the period, Adam Hogg intercepted a Laredo pass and scored a shorthanded, breakaway goal to give Texas the lead.
But as was the story in the past two games, the Brahmas continued to have problems closing the game out in the third period. With 3:39 remaining, Todd Griffith evened the score with his second goal of the night. Then, with just 1.6 seconds left in regulation, Rusty Masters gave the Bucks the win as he put a wrister past Mark Guggenberger.
Guggenberger allowed four goals for the second straight game, making 25 saves on 29 shots. Ryan Rondeau stopped 28 of 31 Brahmas shots to beat Texas for the second time in as many nights.
The Brahmas are off until Friday, December 2 when they take on the Allen Americans at 7:30pm at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
