Brahmas head into all-star break with 'W'

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Brahmas defenseman Justin Kinnunen has more than Wednesday's All-Star game to be happy about as Texas defeated the Tulsa Oilers Saturday 2-1.
The Brahmas after coming off a loss to the Oilers the night before, illustrated the playing style of coach Dan Wildfong, battling for sixty minutes. Despite being shorthanded early in the first, Texas forward Tyler Skworchinski found a way to put the puck behind goaltender Kevin St. Pierre. This is the Brahmas second shorthanded goal in as many games against Tulsa.
The team continued to battle it out in the opening period, which ultimately resulted in another Brahmas goal, this time from defenseman Eric Main. Credited with the assists were forwards Mark Carragher and Greg McConnell.
Grittiness was showcased by Texas in the second, especially by Texas' Main who received two minutes for roughing. Neither team was able to convert on the six combined powerplays, but the Brahmas were able to outshoot the Oilers 12-9.
The Oilers were finally able to break Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger's stellar performance in the final period, but that was the only goal he would give up, giving Texas the 2-1 win.
The win not only broke Texas' five game losing streak, but it also ended the seven game losing streak on the road. Jaeger finished the game stopping 28 of 29 shots and Texas outshot Tulsa 30-29.
Texas will play at home Friday evening to face the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for a 7:05 PM faceoff. Brahma fans are encouraged to support Justin Kinnunen as he represents Texas in the 2008 CHL All-Star game Wednesday at 7:05 PM by watching it live on CHL Network.
