The Rayz suffered their fourth one-goal loss of the season and fell to 1-5-1 on the year. The Rayz had six power play chances in the final period but ran into a terrific performance from Texas netminder, David Cacciola. Corpus Christi will now take on the Youngstown Steelhounds on Sunday afternoon, before going on the road for five straight games. Sunday is Caller-Times Family Day at the American Bank Center. The Rayz and Brahmas played a scoreless first period. It was the fourth time in the last five games that Corpus Christi had a game go into the first intermission with the score 0-0. The Brahmas outshot the Rayz 13-10 in the period.

In the second period the Rayz broke the scoreless tie at 6:48 when Adam Powell scored on a powerful wrist shot from a bad angle at the bottom of the left circle. The goal gave the Rayz a 1-0 lead, but two quick goals for the Brahmas gave them the lead. Anders Strome completed a series of one touch passes from Grant Jacobsen and Scott Sheppard at 11:06 of the period for a goal while a delayed call was coming against Corpus Christi. Then on a power play at 13:27 the Brahmas took the lead when Blair Manning found Sheppard in the slot for a one-timer past Kevin Couture. The Brahmas outshot the Rayz 16-9 in the period.

In the third period, Corpus Christi had six power play chances to try and find the equalizer, but they could not solve David Cacciola. Cacciola made 16 third period saves and the Rayz failed on six power play chances in the final frame as they fell 2-1 in the contest. The loss for the Rayz was their fourth one-goal defeat on the season and extended their winless skid to five games.

Couture made his first start with the Rayz and played well, making 34 saves on 36 shots, but took the loss, dropping his record to 0-1. Cacciola was also solid in net making 34 saves and surrendering just one goal for the win. He upped his record to 6-1 mirroring that of the Brahmas. The Brahmas outshot the Rayz 36-35. The Rayz were 0-9 on the power play and the Brahmas were 1-6.

The Rayz return to the American Bank Center on Sunday afternoon for Caller-Times Family Day when the Rayz welcome in the Youngstown Steelhounds.
