TONIGHT'S GAME
The Killer Bees (3-2-1) face off against the Laredo Bucks (7-0-0) for the second time this season and first time at Dodge Arena. The Bees are coming off a 5-4 comeback victory over Corpus Christi last night. The Bees and Bucks met Thursday in Laredo with the Bucks taking a 5-1 win. Laredo was idle last night, and closes its weekend tomorrow at Austin.
WEEKEND OVERVIEW
This weekend the Killer Bees face their first three-in-three stretch of the season. The weekend includes a pair of games against Laredo, which enters the series unbeaten (6-0-0). The Bucks have outscored their opponents 42-10 and have already posted three shutouts (6-0 at AMA, 7-0 vs. CRP, 2-0 vs. CRP).
In the month of November, the Bees play nine games against Southeast Division rivals (LAR-5, CRP-3, AUS-1), the second-highest total this season. March is when they face 10 divisional games (AUS-5, LAR- 3, CRP-2). November is also the busiest month of the season for Rio; they'll pack 13 games into 30 days. This is the only three-in-three of the month. The Bees play a three-in-four later this month (Nov. 21-24) and wrap up the month with the first game of a three-in-three (Nov. 30-Dec. 2).
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
n Travis Banga had five assists over the first three games of the season. He scored the only Rio goal in a 5-1 loss at Laredo on Nov. 1. Last night, he bagged two goals and added two assists. His second goal was his 200th career point. He needs 15 goals for the 100th of his career.
n Rob Voltera had four goals in his first three games this season. Going back to last regular season, he has points (12-13-25) in 21 of 25 games.
n Josh Bonar scored his first pro goal last Friday and had three assists last night.
n The Bees signed defenseman Jon Hedberg prior to Thursday's game at Laredo and placed F Marlon Joseph on the 14-day injured reserve, retroactive to October 27, prior to Friday's game. F Jared Silver was activated from IR on Friday, while D Tyler Fuller remains on the IR (day-to-day). Dan McNeill remains on 30-day IR (10/20).
n Laredo entered the weekend averaging 6.17 goals per game while allowing 1.50.
n Through the first three games this season, the Bees allowed 36 or more shots per game, including a season-high 48 vs. Amarillo. In the last three, they've allowed 23, 32 and 28.
n The Bees went 2-1-1 in October. All time they've posted a 13-5-3 (3 SOL) record with an 8-3-1 record at home.
n Historically in November, the Bees are 17-27-3 (0 SOL) all time including marks of 9-15-3 at home and 8-12-0 on the road.
n Rio's all time record stands at 115-117-26 (16 SOL) (258 games played).
