November 3, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Seven is indeed a lucky number for the Youngstown SteelHounds as they defeated the Austin Ice Bats on Saturday night to improve to 7-0.

Petr Pohl remains one of the hottest hands in the Central Hockey League as he scored his fourth goal of the season, unassisted at 1:31 into the game to make it 1-0 Hounds. Adam Smyth knocked in a power play goal 10 minutes later to put Youngstown up 2-0. Smyth has the team's longest active point streak at four games. Former Mississippi RiverKing Jason Tessier cut the deficit to one for the Bats with his fourth of the season to end the first period. That goal was scored on the power play as the Bats were 1-4 with the man advantage.

Youngstown struck again as Erik Johnson scored his first goal of the season at 4:09 to make it 3-1 after two periods. Steve Birnstill added an assist for his first point of the season. Eric Przepiorka had two assists giving him a team leading seven on the season.

The third period was more of the same as Kevin Jarman tipped a slapshot from Jeff Alcombrack past Miroslav Kopriva to make it 4-1 Hounds with seven minutes to play. Austin scored late in the period to make it 4-2 but by that time it was too late. Andy Franck made 27 saves on 29 shots to stay undefeated as the SteelHounds goaltender. Chris Richards scored an empty net goal with one minute to play to end the scoring and give the Hounds a 5-2 victory.

Youngstown once again showed why they lead the CHL in penalty minutes as they accumulated 56 penalty minutes. The Hounds are now 7-0-0 (14 points) and will look to keep the good times going as they take on the Corpus Christi Rayz on Sunday afternoon at 4:05. This game will be back on ESPN Radio 1240. All SteelHounds games are available on SteelHounds.com.
