Brahmas Acquire Dan Welch From Colorado

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 26)- The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) made a splash in transactions Monday as they acquired forward Dan Welch of the Colorado Eagles Monday afternoon, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Welch, a Hastings, MN native, has played three games with the Colorado Eagles this season posting an assist this past Friday in Mississippi. Prior to joining the CHL, Welch spent three seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) and a couple in the East Coast Hockey Leauge (ECHL). The 5-foot-10, 210 pound forward has played overseas, including early last season where he averaged nearly a point a game in Denmark. Following his career at the University of Minnesota (NCAA), Welch was chosen by the Los Angeles Kings in the 8th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Texas will begin their I-20 rivalry this Friday as they head to Louisiana to take on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs for a 7:05 PM faceoff. Fans can catch all the action live on CHL-TV .

On Saturday, the Brahmas return home to for a little Halloween hockey action against new cross town foe, the Allen Americans. As the players perform 'tricks' on the ice, the Brahmas are offering 'treats' for the fans as the first 1000 patrons at the NYTEX Sports Centre will receive a 2009-10 magnet schedule. All those in attendance are encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween costume to join all the fun festivities planned.
