Arizona Sundogs News Release
Last weekend, the Arizona Sundogs (1-3-1) grabbed their first win of the 2009-10 season and collected three of a possible four points in a two-game set against the Northern Conference Rapid City Rush. Arizona topped the Rush 5-4 on Friday night and lost 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night. Next up for the Sundogs are back-to-back road games against Southern Conference foes the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Friday, Oct. 30 (5:35pm Arizona time) and the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday, Oct. 31 (1:05pm Arizona time).
Sundogs Storylines:
- Arizona tallied three goals in a 56-second span and four goals in less than three minutes in the second period of Friday's 5-4 win, setting a new record for the fastest three goals in franchise history. The previous record for fastest three goals was 65 seconds set during the 2007-08 season in a 7-6 come from behind victory against the Rocky Mountain Rage on March 19.
- After just one goal in his first three games, Konrad Reeder now leads the team in scoring with six points (2g/4a) in five games after back-to-back multiple point games last weekend. The two-time CHL All-Star recorded three assists in Arizona's 5-4 win Friday night and added a goal and an assist in the team's 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday.
- Kevin Gardner is riding a two-game point streak, tallying one goal and three assists in two games against Rapid City last weekend. The Edmonton, Alberta, native is averaging a point per game early this season with five points (1g/4a) in five games.
- Jason Visser is back from injury and currently leads the team in goals with three. The third-year Sundog recorded two goals in Friday night's win and one goal in Saturday night's overtime loss.
- After being held scoreless in his first game with Arizona, Torren Delforte is riding a team high four-game point streak with two goals and two assists in his last four games.
- Veteran defenseman and player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone is still averaging nearly a point per game despite his added responsibilities with the club, having netted one goal and three assists in five games this season.
