Odessa Jackalopes News Release
(Odessa, TX) - The Odessa Jackalopes won two of three games last week due an offensive outburst that was triggered by 11 power play goals in 24 opportunities (45.8%).
Last week's record: 2-0-1
Season record: 3-1-1, 3rd in Southern Conference
This week's games: Tuesday vs. Missouri, Friday @ Corpus Christi
Tuesday vs. Rio Grande Valley, 7-0 Win
Juha Toivonen earned the second shutout of his career, and the first of the season for Odessa, as the Jacks scored five power play goals in the 7-0 rout. Jeff Pierce was responsible for two of the goals, and Mike Lesperance led all skaters with four points - all assists.
Friday at Amarillo, 9-4 Win
The Jackalopes tied a franchise record with nine goals in the win. Jeff Pierce recorded the first hat trick of his career, while Dominic Leveille added four assists for the Jackalopes. Juha Toivonen picked up his second win in as many starts with 20 saves.
Saturday vs. Bossier-Shreveport, 5-4 Loss (SO)
The Jackalopes held a 3-0 lead after the first period, and a 4-2 lead midway through the third before the Mudbugs forced overtime. Neither team could score in the extra frame, so a shootout was needed to determine the winner. Simon Mangos scored the winner for the Mudbugs, but Odessa picked up a point in the 5-4 shootout loss.

Tuesday vs. Missouri, 7:05 PM
Former Jacks defenseman, Scott Hillman, returns to the Permian Basin after playing more games for the Jackalopes than any other player in history (446). Hillman is the head coach of the expansion Missouri Mavericks. The Jackalopes will hold a pre-game ceremony for Hillman.
Friday at Corpus Christi, 7:05 PM
It's the first meeting since Odessa defeated the Rays, 3-2, in a shootout on opening night. Last season the Jackalopes were 2-1-1 in four games at the American Bank Center.
The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
