Bradenton Wins Again Vs. Anderson

Anderson, South Carolina- The Bradenton Juice remain atop the South Coast League standings for the second half of the season thanks to Tuesday night's 6-1 win over the Anderson Joes. The Juice got a spectacular starting pitching performance from Brian Gartley along with timely hitting to knock off the Joes for the 7th time this season.

Bradenton struck first in the 1st inning with Julius Thames hitting a one-out single to right field and two batters later Eddie Kim doubled to left field driving in Thames making it 1-0 Bradenton.

Anderson tied the game in the 4th when Jeury Espinal led off with a walk and three batters later Billy Hogan smacked a single to left field plating Espinal.

The Juice went up for good thanks to a big 6th inning when four runs came across. Eddie Kim started the inning by reaching base on an error and then Mikela Olsen singled to right field. The next batter Nick Corbeil drew a walk and with the bases loaded Brenan Hererra hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Kim from third base putting the Juice up 2-1. Zach Woodward followed and during his at bat pitcher Henry Martinez had an errant pickoff throw to first base that Mikela Olsen scored on making it 3-1 Juice. Then Woodward hit his second single of the night and then Brian Gartley reached base on an error that plated Nick Corbeil putting the Juice up 4-1. Up next Luke Barganier reached base on a fielder's choice that Woodward scored on making it 5-1 Bradenton.

Bradenton added an insurance run in the 8th inning when Luke Barganier hit a two-out single to center field and then with Julius Thames at the plate Barganier stole second base. Then Thames reached on an error on a ground ball that went under the third baseman's glove and into left field. On the play Barganier scored putting the Juice up 6-1.

On the mound for the Juice Brian Gartley (4-1) had a superb outing pitching 7 innings allowing just one run (earned), on one hit, walking 3 and striking out 6 batters. For Anderson Daniel Howard (1-1) takes the loss going 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, walking 3 and striking out 5.

Bradenton is now 2-0 in the second half of the season and 26-20 overall while Anderson falls to 0-2 in the second half and 13-34 overall.

The Juice go for the series sweep in Wednesday's series finale as Bradenton will also be looking for their 8th win in 9 games vs. the Joes.
