
Bradenton Tops Charlotte County In Series Opener

Port Charlotte, FL- After losing two consecutive games the Bradenton Juice was destined to get back in the win column on Monday night vs. Charlotte County and the Juice did just that winning 9-0. Brian Gartley had a great outing on the mound and the Juice had three big innings to defeat the Redfish for the 10th time in 13 games this season.
Bradenton got the scoring started in the 3rd with two outs when pitcher Brian Gartley singled to left field and then Julius Thames hit a single to center field. With two runners on base Brenan Hererra singled to left field scoring Gartley putting Bradenton up 1-0. Then third baseman Al Corbeil doubled to left field scoring Thames and Hererra giving the Juice a 3-0 cushion.
The Juice got the kept the momentum going in the Bottom of the 4th with Mikela Olsen leading off with a double to left field then Zach Woodward hit a single to center field that scored Olsen giving the Juice a 4-0 lead. Bradenton got its third consecutive hit when Luke Barganier smacked a triple to right field that plated Barganier giving the Juice a 5-0 advantage. Two batters later Brian Gartley grounded into a fielder's choice and then Julius Thames drew a walk. Up next Brenan Hererra singled to center field scoring Gartley putting Bradenton on top 6-0.
For the third consecutive inning Bradenton scored three runs in an inning. Eddie Kim led off the 5th by singling to right field and then Mikela Olsen doubled to left field. Two batters later Luke Barganier was intentionally walked and then Drew York reached base on an error by the second baseman that scored Kim and Olsen putting the Juice on top 8-0. Once again Brian Gartley helped his own cause by hitting a single to center field that drove home Barganier giving Bradenton an 9-0 lead.
Brian Gartley (6-2) got the win for the Juice pitching 7 innings, allowing 0 runs on 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7 batters.
Brandon Camardese (3-2) took the loss for the Redfish after pitching 3 innings, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, walking 0 and striking out 3 batters.
Of note for the Juice Mikela Olsen was a late addition to the starting lineup and he went 3-4 with 2 doubles, a single and two runs scored and this was first three-hit game since June 21st. Brenan Hererra was 2-4 with two singles, two RBI and a run scored. Also pitcher Brian Gartley had his second multi-hit game of the year going 2-3 with 2 singles, an RBI and two runs scored.
Bradenton improves its record to 10-8 in the second half of the season and 34-28 overall while Charlotte County falls to 5-12 in the second half and 17-45 overall.
The Juice plan to send RHP Travis Kane (3-1) to the mound for the middle game of the series while the Redfish are starting RHP Celson Polanco (0-5) to pitch in his second start vs. Bradenton. On July 4th Polanco started and took the loss vs. the Juice going 5.1 innings allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 11 hits, walking 0 and striking out 6 Juice batters.
