Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN, S.C. - In game one of a doubleheader at Roberto Hernandez Stadium, Macon's Blake Rice pitched a complete game and watched his offense explode through the middle innings as the visiting Music (39-22, 9-7) defeated the Aiken Foxhounds (30-33, 8-10) 9-1. After last night's rainout, the game was played as the first of two abbreviated seven-inning games.

After the starting pitchers each cruised through the first two innings, Macon got to Aiken starter John Ducey in the third inning, scoring three runs on three hits and a wild pitch. Carlos Arroyo drove in the first two runs with a single up the middle, and Scott Robinson added an RBI single.

The Music kept the heat on Ducey in the fourth. Ismael Castro led off the frame with a home run to left field, and Felipe Del Rosario followed with a double to center, ending Ducey's night. Brian Grijalva entered from the Foxhound bullpen and got out of the frame allowing just an RBI groundout.

Ducey (1-2) took the loss, allowing five earned runs on six hits in three plus innings of work.

In the top of the fifth, Aiken reliever Kevin Holt did not have any success slowing the Music offense. After a double, a single, and an intentional walk loaded the bases with no outs, Del Rosario hit his second double of the game to drive in two runs and increase the lead to 7-0. A wild pitch allowing Castro to score from third and a walk ended Holt's night. Jesse Krause came in for Holt and got out of the inning allowing just an RBI groundout.

Krause worked the final three innings for the Foxhounds and did not allow a hit while striking out three.

Rice frustrated the Foxhounds' bats through the first six innings, allowing just four hits while putting zeroes across the home half of the scoreboard. In the seventh inning, Will Gonzalez led off with a single through the left side of the infield. After advancing to second and third on subsequent groundouts, Gonzalez scored on a Scott Houin infield single.

In his second consecutive impressive start and first complete game, Rice (2-0) allowed one run on six hits while walking three and striking out three.

Del Rosario led Macon with a 3-for-4 game with three runs scored and two RBI while Arroyo had two hits in three at-bats with three RBI and a run scored.
