Aiken Foxhounds News Release
AIKEN, S.C. - Game two of the Aiken Foxhounds' doubleheader Tuesday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium was played to a similar tune as game one, as the visiting Macon Music (40-22, 10-7) jumped way ahead earlier and got excellent starting pitching to take the nightcap 7-1. With the loss, the Foxhounds fall to 30-34 overall and 8-11 in the second half. After last night's rainout, the game was played as the second of two abbreviated seven-inning games.
After winning the first game 9-1, Macon quickly regained the same form, scoring six times in the first two innings to take a commanding lead they would not relinquish.
Facing Aiken starter Tim Drew (4-5), the Music opened the top of the first with three straight hits including back-to-back RBI doubles from Dorian Rojas and Scott Robinson. After a groundout, Chris Colton added an RBI single to give Macon a 3-0 lead before Aiken came to bat.
Drew did not have any more luck in the second, when the Music doubled their lead with three runs on four hits. Carlos Arroyo knocked in two of the runs with a double to left center.
Macon starter Ralph Roberts backed up Blake Rice's performance from game one extremely well. The big right-handed hurler did not give up a run through the first five innings. In the sixth, Ben Bando finally got the Hounds on the board with his ninth home run of the season, a solo shot.
Roberts (5-1) allowed just the one run on seven hits in six innings while walking two and striking out eight.
Arroyo, Rojas, Robinson, and Ismael Castro each had two hits in the game to lead the 12-hit Macon offensive effort.
Bando and Scott Houin each had two hits for the Foxhounds. Three Aiken relievers combined to pitch effectively over the final five innings. Brian Grivalja allowed just one earned run in three innings, and Gary Lee and Mark Dewey each pitched a scoreless frame.
The Foxhounds will look to avoid the sweep on Wednesday night when the host the Music for the series finale at Hernandez Stadium at 7:05 PM.
