After a scoreless first period in which Portland held a 19-11 advantage in shots on goal, the Winterhawks opened the scoring 58 seconds into the second period on the 26th goal of the season from Ross. The Silvertips evened the game at the 6:16 mark on a power play goal by Kohl Bauml, and the score remained 1-1 through the end of the period.
Portland regained the lead 10:50 into the third period when Ross scored his second of the night in a goalmouth scramble, a power play goal that came during four-on-three play to give the Hawks a 2-1 advantage. Late in the game, Ross completed the hat trick when he scored an empty net goal to seal the 3-1 win, and the 14th straight win at home.

Portland was 1-5 on the power play and 1-2 on the penalty kill.
