Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Stockton, CA-- Michael Boyle's Cal League debut was solid, but the Quakes couldn't muster enough offense to shake off their losing streak, as they fell to the Stockton Ports on Monday evening by a final of 4-2 at Banner Island Ballpark.
Boyle was spotted an early 2-0 lead, but the Rancho bats went scoreless over the final eight innings, as they dropped their fifth straight game overall, their longest losing streak of the year.
Stockton starter Brett Graves gave up three straight singles to start the game and a total of four hits in the inning, as Rancho staked Boyle to a 2-0 edge. RBI hits by Noah Perio and Brandon Trinkwon gave the Quakes the two-run advantage.
The Stockton offense got a run off Boyle in the third, then two more in the fourth, as Richie Martin blooped a two-out double to right field that plated a pair of runs, giving the Ports a 3-2 lead.
Graves (6-8) settled down, allowing just three hits over the next five scoreless innings to eventually notch the win.
Adam Bray gave up a solo homer to Sandber Pimentel in the eighth, his 18th of the year to give Stockton an insurance run and a 4-2 lead.
Stockton's bullpen combined for three innings of scoreless work, with Cody Stull recording the final four outs to secure his first save of the year.
Rancho finished with seven hits, with Noah Perio as the only Quake to record a two-hit game.
Boyle (0-1) suffered the loss, after allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits over six innings with eight strikeouts and only one walk.
The Quakes (19-19, 61-47) will look to bounce back on Tuesday night, sending Isaac Anderson (2-0) to the mound against Stockton's James Naile (1-0) at 7:10pm.
After this current seven-game road trip concludes, your Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 9th for another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans that bring ten CRV-eligible bottles or cans will receive a free Club Seat Ticket to the game. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field very soon ... Go Quakes!
