
Gurriel Assigned to JetHawks, Debuts Tuesday

LANCASTER, Calif. - Houston Astros infielder Yulieski Gurriel has been added to the Lancaster JetHawks and is scheduled to debut for the club in Tuesday night's 6:35 p.m. game at The Hangar.
Gurriel, 32, is scheduled to stay with the JetHawks through Sunday's homestand finale. He was transferred to Lancaster from the Rookie Level Gulf Coast League where he went 2-for-7 in two games with the GCL Astros.
The Astros signed Gurriel to a Major League contract on July 15. The native of Cuba spent 15 seasons playing in Cuba's Serie Nacional and played part of one season with Yokohama in the NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball). Gurriel has a career .335 batting average with 250 home runs during his 15-year career in professional baseball.
