Bowie Baysox Drive-In back this weekend
May 11, 2004 - Eastern League (EL1)
Chesapeake Baysox News Release
After a successful opening weekend the Bowie Baysox Baseball Club along with American Family Entertainment, will be back this weekend with more in store for area movie-goes.
This weekend the Bowie Baysox Drive-In will feature the 2003 re-make of the classic Peter Pan, starring Jeremy Sumpter as Peter Pan and the 1996 hit Twister starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton.
Admission to the "Bowie Baysox Drive-In Theatre" will be $15 per car, with the amount of people permitted in each car being equal to the number of seat belts. Showtime will always be at dusk, beginning with two cartoons and followed by a double feature. There will be a 20-minute intermission between the two features.
For the first time this season food and drink will be available for the drive-in. Prices on food and drink will mirror those at any Baysox home game.
Using digital technology and surround sound, moviegoers will experience this full, high definition image on a 58x31 foot inflatable screen.
"The picture quality is equal to, or better than, any indoor theater," touts the president of American Family Entertainment, Alan Ackerman. "And the sound is CD quality, incredibly crisp and clear."
"This will be a great source of unique, family entertainment, and we are excited for the grand opening," said Baysox General Manager Mike Munter. "This new venture, along with Baysox games and other events, continue to make Prince George's Stadium a prime destination for families in our area."
