(PK Park - Eugene, OR) - Canadians 1B Balbino Fuenmayor hit his 4th home run of the summer off of Emeralds starter LHP Juan Marcano in the top of the 6th inning that helped Vancouver to a 4-1 victory on Tuesday night in Eugene, OR.
Vancouver jumped out to an early lead when SS Jorge Flores hit his 7th double of the season and scored on a ground out from DH Jason Leblebijian to give the Canadians a 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 1st inning.
The Emeralds would respond with their only run of the game on Tuesday night when RF Corey Adamson picked up a single off of Canadians starter RHP Eric Brown and then stole second base before scoring on a single off the bat of LF Jeremy Baltz to even the game at 1-1.
Balbino Fuenmayor's solo home run in the top of the 6th inning would prove to be the winning run, but Vancouver would score a pair of runs in the top of the 9th inning with SS Jason Leblebijian and Fuenmayor hitting singles before coming around to count giving the Canadians a 4-1 victory.
Vancouver RHP Eric Brown (1-4) picked up his first win of the 2012 season dropping his ERA to 8.10 through seven outings. RHP Arik Sikula pitched two scoreless innings scattering a pair of hits while RHP Ian Kadish pitched two innings of no-hit baseball for his 3rd save of the summer.
Notes: The Canadians improve to 18-13 (.581) on the NWL season while the Emeralds fall to 19-12 (.613)... Vancouver has won three of the four meetings between these two West Division rivals... Everett improved to 24-8 (.800) on the season with a victory over Salem-Keizer (11-21) on Tuesday night leaving Vancouver 5 1/2 games back with six games to go in the NWL first half. Vancouver's magic number to be eliminated is 1, while the Eugene magic number is 3.
