New York Boulders News Release

(Ramapo, N.Y.) - Rockland played its second extra-inning game in three nights, but this time fell to the Grand Prairie AirHogs 8-7 in 11.

Zane Chavez's RBI single drove in Yasutsugu Nishimoto for the game-winning run.

The Boulders got out to a quick start in the bottom of the first as both Chris Valencia and Qualon Millender reached base on singles. It was then Keith Brachold who put Rockland on the board with a three-run dinger to give the Boulders an early 3-0 lead.

The Air Hogs would battle back, tying the score in the top of the third. Brian Myrow and Andres Rodriguez would contribute RBI singles while Greg Porter would knock a run in on a fielder's choice.

But Rockland would retake the lead as Chris Valencia hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth to make the tally 5-3 Boulders. After Grand Prairie added one of their own in the top of the fifth, it was Brachold again who would extend Rockland's lead to 6-4 with another homerun. The long ball was Brachold's ninth of the year, putting him one behind New Jersey's Nick Giarraputo for the league lead in home runs.

After scoring one in the top of the eighth to cut the lead to 6-5, the Air Hogs would hop out to a 7-6 lead with two runs in the top of the ninth. The scoring came courtesy of Chavez, who doubled off reliever Adrian Martin to tie the score. It was then Rodriguez who would ground into a fielder's choice that scored Chavez on a throwing error and put Grand Prairie in front.

It was not finished though as Rockland came storming back in the bottom of the ninth. With one-out Ryan Mollica tripled to right to give the Boulders momentum. Glen Johnson would pitch run for Mollica and Ryan Scoma then doubled Johnson in to tie the game.

Bobby Blevins pitched a solid five innings, surrendering four runs and striking out five in the no decision.

The Boulders are back in action again tomorrow night against Grand Prairie with first pitch scheduled for 7 P.M. Show your AAA membership card at Provident Bank Park tomorrow night and receive $2.00 off outfield box seats and 15% off in the retail store.
