Ottawa Champions News Release

OTTAWA - The Rockland Boulders beat the Ottawa Champions 5-2 on Thursday evening at RCGT Park in Ottawa.

"We got a few runs in the last inning, but we really weren't gelling offensively," said manager Hal Lanier. "It's four games in a row that the offence hasn't done too much - I'm very disappointed in that. Jordan just didn't have his stuff today. That's the first bad outing he's had in a long time."

The Boulders tagged Ottawa RHP Jordan Kurokawa for five runs over five innings. It was the Hawaiian's shortest outing since July 7 and his first loss since June 14. Despite leaving the game after only five frames, Kurokawa struck out seven batters.

LF Kevin Krause hit a two-run home run for Rockland and added another RBI. CF Mike Montville had a very impressive day - he was 3-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Montville also robbed DH Sebastien Boucher of a certain extra-base hit with a soaring catch in deep centre field in the third inning.

That would be the only blemish on Boucher's scorecard on Thursday evening, as he had a 3-for-4 day with a run scored. 3B Jordan Caillouet drove Boucher in on a double in the bottom of the ninth. 1B Vinny Guglietti scored on a wild pitch in that frame, but the Champions comeback would ultimately fall short.

Ottawa will look to bounce back against the Boulders tomorrow, Friday, August 10 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for all Champions home games are available at www.ottawachampions.com, in-person at the RCGT Park box office, or by calling 613-745-BALL (2255).
