August 9, 2018 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Jersey Jackals News Release
After coming off of a 3-game sweep over the Ottawa Champions, the New Jersey Jackals began a 5-game series against the Trios-Rivieres Aigles. The first game of today's double-header was a makeup game from the rainout on July 17th.
Mat Latos took the mound for the Jackals, his first home start since June 9th.
The Jackals were the first to score when David Harris singled to score John Reuttiger from second base.
Latos retired the first nine batters faced, striking out six of them. In the top of the third the Aigles took a 2-1 lead. Latos walked the first two batters, which then brought up Taylor Brennan who doubled to score Alexi Colon. Kevin Cornelius then singled to bring in Javier Herrera.
The Aigles added another run in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Sam Dexter.
The bottom of the seventh brought up the bottom of the order and while they looked to get something going, they were unable to.
The Jackals dropped game 1 of the double-header 3-1. Game 2 is scheduled to start at 7:45.
