New York Boulders News Release
The Boulders (21-18) were defeated by the Miners (27-12) by a final of 4-1 and fell victim of their first sweep in just over a month.
Sussex DH Nick Zaharion brought in the first two runs of the game on an RBI single off of Brad Schaenzer in the second, who made his Canam debut. The 22-year old out of Kentucky University went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out one.
Similar to last night the Boulders had chances to score but left men on base. In the first, they had guys on first and third with two outs before Conrad Gregor flew out to center; with two in scoring position in the fourth, Mike Montville--who had the only Rockland RBI tonight on a sac fly in the ninth--struck out swinging. They sent seven men to the plate in last frame but only managed one run, leaving the bases loaded to end the game. All in all, Jamie Keefe's squad stranded 10 runners. Coming into tonight their season total was 297, which lead the league.
Looking to rebound tomorrow, the Boulders return home against the Aigles at 7:00pm EST for the start of back-to-back home series.
