(TROIS-RIVIERES, QUEBEC) - Starting pitcher Bo Budkevics tied a franchise record with 12 strikeouts, leading the Rockland Boulders to a 4-2 win over Trois-Rivieres in Game 2 of the first round of the Can-Am League playoffs. With the win, the series is now even at 1-1 after two games.

Rockland took an early lead with some help from Aigles starter Matthew Rusch. After Stephen Cardullo singled to lead off the fourth, Rusch's errant pickoff attempt allowed him to advance to third. Marcus Nidiffer then drove him in with a sacrifice fly to give the Boulders a 1-0 advantage. They would add to the lead on Jared McDonald's RBI double in the fifth and Charlie Law's RBI double in the sixth.

Leading 3-0 after six innings, Budkevics ran into some trouble. With two outs and a runner on first, Daniel Mateo blasted a two-run homer to right field, cutting the lead to just 3-2. Budkevics would follow by fanning Jose Cuevas for his 12th strikeout of the night, tying a franchise single-game record originally set by Pat Moran on May 24, 2012.

Rockland picked up an insurance run in the eighth, loading the bases with one out, before Law's sacrifice fly brought home Junior Arrojo. Despite bringing the tying run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth innings, Chad Robinson, Shawn Gilblair, and Luis Sanz combined to toss two scoreless innings of relief. Budkevics (1-0) got the win allowing just two runs in seven innings and striking out 12 while Rusch (0-1) took the loss, giving up all four runs.

Sanz picked up his first save of the playoffs, striking out one batter in the ninth. The righty's strikeout in the ninth was the 16th of the game for Rockland pitching, tying a franchise record for strikeouts in a game previously set on May 17, 2013.

The series now shifts to Provident Bank Park with Game 3 scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm on Friday night.
