Game 2 Postponed to Friday at 7:05 Pm

The Jackals managed to escape Game 1 of the Can-Am League semifinals with a victory, despite a harrowing 9th inning. The New Jersey offense was able to get to Can-Am Pitcher of the Year Karl Gelinas early and often to build a 4-2 lead by the 5th inning, thanks to aggressive baserunning and timely clutch hitting. D'Vontrey Richardson and Jared Schlehuber drove in the first two runs with 2 outs in the 2nd inning to tie the game at 2. The Jackals would take the lead in the 3rd inning on a ringing RBI double off the bat of Mark Threlkeld. Threlkeld would also drive in an insurance run in the 5th inning, going 3-3 with a walk on the day. Starting pitcher John Walter made one mistake in the game, giving up a 2-run home run to All-Star Kalian Sams in the 1st inning. He settled down after that, pitching into the 9th inning and striking out five Capitales. After allowing a leadoff base hit, Jackals manager Joe Calfapietra went to his closer, Hector Nelo. Nelo would load the bases with 2 outs, putting the tying run on 3rd base for Quebec. After falling behind 2-0 to Yordan Manduley, Nelo came back to strike him out, clinching a nerve-wracking Game 1 victory for the home side.

Due to the rain on Thursday night, Game 2 has been postponed to Friday, 9/11 at 7:05 pm! The team will still be offering Pets in the Park and $1 Drinks to all fans that come out to the game! So get your tickets and come cheer on the Jackals in their quest for their 5th championship trophy!
