Bossier-Shreveport Beats RiverKings in Pre-Season

(Bossier City, LA) --- The Mississippi RiverKings fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 6-1 Saturday, October 10th at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. The teams split the weekend pre-season series in preparation for the teams' regular season start next weekend.

Bossier-Shreveport scored four times in the second period to open up the contest after taking a 1-0 lead in the first period on a power play goal from Joe Zappala.

Two of the four goals by the Mudbugs came with the man advantage. The RiverKings' only goal of the game came eleven minutes into the second period off the stick of Ryan Held, whose shot from the shot found the upper left corner. Stephen Margeson and Ryan Campbell assisted on the goal.

Bossier-Shreveport added a goal in the third period for the final result.

Mississippi out shot the 'Bugs 24-22 for the game, Matt Lopes took the loss in goal for the RiverKings with a 16 save effort. Ken Carroll was the winning goalie for Bossier-Shreveport with 23 saves.

Bossier-Shreveport was 3-of-6 on the power play, while the RiverKings were 0-for-3.

The RiverKings will open the regular season Friday, October 16th at "The Ice Palace in Southaven," off the I-55 Church Road exit, taking on the Tulsa Oilers at 7:05 PM. For ticket information, call the RiverKings at 662-342-1755 today!
