Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release

The Border Cats dropped their third straight home game Tuesday night as they fell 11-8 to the St. Cloud Rox at Subway Field. The Cats fought back to tie the game 4-4 in the 5th inning, but the Rox took the lead for good by scoring three times in the top of the 6th on a wild pitch and a two-run home run by Adam Walker. The Cats hit three homers in the game, but saw their record slip to 6-8. Dylan Goodwin (Central Michigan University) went 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's, including a lead off home run in the 4th inning. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) hit a long home run to centre field, a two-run shot that tied the game 4-4 in the 5th inning. Alex Bautista (Clarendon College) also had a two-run blast, his second of the season. Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) raised his average to .362 by going 4-4 with doubles, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.

John Hayes (Murray State College) made his Cats debut and took the loss in relief to fall to 0-1. Caleb Smith (Rice University) started for the Cats and pitched five innings. The righthander allowed four runs (two earned), with five strikeouts.

The Cats and Rox continue their three-game series tonight at 7:05pm. Chris Kerwood (Arkansas State University) will get the start for Thunder Bay. The righthander has appeared in two games and is 1-0 with a 7.44 ERA.

CLAW MARKS: The Cats have removed infielder Carter McEachern (Trinity University) from the roster after the Thunder Bay native requested his release from the club. McEachern, who was signed to a temporary contract, played in four games and went hitless in six at-bats. Catcher Anthony Azar (Sam Houston State University) will not be joining the Cats this season as he's been sidelined with a right shoulder injury that will require surgery.
