It was a tough night for the Border Cats on Wednesday as they lost 10-1 to Rochester at Subway Field. The Honkers swept the two-game series and dropped the Cats record to 8-14. The Honkers scored early and often, getting three runs in the 2nd inning, two in the 3rd, and three more in the top of the 4th. Matt Blackham (Johnson County College) took the loss in his first start to fall to 0-2. The righthander pitched 2 2/3 innings and allowed six hits and five runs (three earned). Blackham walked four and struck out three.

The Cats lone run came in the bottom of the 8th inning. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) hustled hard out of the box for a double to left-centre field. Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) advanced him to third on an infield single, and Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) hit a sacrifice fly to score Becker. Vosler leads the Cats with 17 runs batted in to go along with his team leading .359 batting average.

The Cats continue their four-game homestand tonight as they open a two-game series against the Duluth Huskies at 7:05pm. It's game three of the Superior Cup with the season series tied 1-1. Righthander John Hayes (Murray State College) is the scheduled starter for Thunder Bay.
