Border Cats lose to Bucks

The Waterloo Bucks ran their first place record to 17-7 in the North Division as they beat the Border Cats 7-1 Saturday night in Iowa. The game was played with a game time temperature at a steamy 91 degrees. Up 3-0, the Bucks put the game away with a three-run 6th inning. Jordan Church (Sam Houston State University) started for the Cats and took the loss to fall to 0-2. The righthander pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed three hits and six runs (five earned). Church struck out three and walked four.

Cory Kay (Harper College) went 1-4 and drove in the Cats lone run in the 8th inning. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) and Ty Stetson (Murray State University) both had two hits on the night as Thunder Bay's record fell to 10-15.

The Cats and Bucks wrap up their two-game series Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm ET. Caleb Smith (Rice University) will get the start on the mound for Thunder Bay. The righthander has appeared in four games and is 1-0 with a 2.90 ERA.
