
Boomers Stop Quebec's Win Streak in Canada Opener

QUEBEC, CN - The 2021 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers made the most of their first ever visit to Canada by ending a 12-game win streak for the Quebec Capitales, handing the hosts a 5-2 loss, just the fourth defeat at home for the league's best team.
Schaumburg jumped ahead in the top of the first. Quebec starter Carlos Sano issued three walks and Blake Berry made the most of his first at bat with the Boomers, blooping a single to left to open the scoring a hurt his former team. Berry was acquired in a trade with Quebec during the All-Star break. Braxton Davidson made the score 3-0 with a two-run double in the third. Quebec drew within a run on a two-run homer from TJ White in the bottom of the third. Mike Hart homered in the top of the fifth, his seventh of the year and fourth in the past three contests to push the margin to 4-2.
Rain fell in the bottom of the sixth, creating a delay of just over 30 minutes. Following the delay Kristian Scott emerged from the bullpen and helped the pen record a stretch of 10 consecutive outs by retiring the final two batters. Cos Cannella added insurance with an RBI single in the ninth.
Blake Stelzer worked 5.1 innings to record his fifth win of the year and claim his fourth consecutive decision. Following Scott, Aaron Glickstein worked two perfect frames, fanning three and Darrell Thompson struck out two in the ninth to convert on his eighth save. The Boomers finished with 11 hits and drew eight walks. All nine members of the lineup reached base. Chase Dawson posted two hits and scored twice. Hart, Berry and Cannella all finished with two hits while Davidson reached base four times.
The Boomers (31-25) have won five straight and play again in Quebec at 6:05pm Central tomorrow. RHP Kyle Arjona (3-4, 6.04) takes the ball against the ace of the Quebec staff All-Star Game starter LHP Miguel Cienfuegos (7-1, 1.80). The team will return home on July 26.
