Schaumburg Boomers News Release

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, kicked off the home portion of the season with a celebration of the 2014 season before suffering a 5-4 loss to the Lake Erie Crushers.

Schaumburg grabbed an early 4-0 lead but could not hold off the Crushers. Alexi Colon opened the scoring with an RBI single in the second. Ryan Tuntland drove home a run with a two-out single in the third before Mark Nelson extended the lead to 4-0 with a two-run single.

The lead seemed more than enough for Edwin Carl. Carl worked six shutout innings, striking out seven. Lake Erie pulled within 4-3 in the seventh and scored two unearned runs on a two-out error in the eighth to lead for the first time. Tuntland finished with two hits as eight different individuals logged a hit.
