SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The two-time defending Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, captured the rubber game from the Frontier Greys, notching a 6-3 victory on Thursday night.
Schaumburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Joel Hutter notched an RBI single in the frame and Mike Schulze extended his team best hitting streak to 12 games with a two-run single. The Greys came back to tie the game, but the Boomers jumped ahead for good in the seventh. Craig Massey and Hutter tallied RBI doubles in the inning.
The Boomers have now won four of the last five series. Hutter paced the offense with three hits and two RBIs while Jordan Dean notched two hits, a walk, and a pair of runs scored. Brett Mabry worked 5.1 innings in a no-decision, allowing three runs. Brandon Bargas grabbed the win with 1.1 perfect innings of relief and Hideyoshi Otake tallied his third save by working the ninth.
