Schaumburg Boomers News Release
SCHAUMBURG, IL - The defending Frontier League champion Schaumburg Boomers presented by Wintrust Community Banks, saw the opener of a three-game weekend series with the Traverse City Beach Bums suspended after five innings due to visibility.
Both teams were having difficulty seeing balls in the air with the combination of thick clouds, sideways rain and the stadium lights. At least four flyballs dropped in the conditions. Schaumburg opened a 1-0 lead before Traverse City scored eight in a row. The Boomers scored twice in the fifth to pull within 8-3. The game will resume at 5:00 p.m. and play through to the conclusion before a seven-inning contest follows.
The doubleheader will continue the season opening homestand. Saturday will serve as Harry Potter Night with postgame fireworks. Make the Boomers part of your plans this season by calling (847) 461-3695.
