Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

MADISON, WI - The Battle Creek Bombers put up a season high 15 runs to top the Madison Mallards 15-14 and take the series 2-1 at Warner Park.

The Bombers swung the bats well all night long, as each starter helped the team produce. Eight of the nine starting position players recorded at least one hit, and also had at least one run batted in. Dylan Delaney (Michigan) and Sikes Orvis (Ole Miss) each tallied three knocks, while Colin Willis (Purdue North Central) and Tom Albert (Doane College) both had three RBI.

Joe Battistelli had a great night hitting as well. Battistelli, a pitcher, stepped up to the plate and hit a solo home run in his first at-bat of the night. He finished with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Battle Creek led 15-5 after 5 ½ innings, but Madison did not go quietly, scoring 2 in the 6th and 4 in the 7th to make the score 15-11. Kenton San Miguel (Central Michigan) came on in relief with 2 outs in the 7th. He got out of that inning and continued to throw a scoreless 8th to keep the Bomber lead at four. A 3-run home run by Jose Trevino in the 9th made the game 15-14, but Pat Borlik (Western Michigan) finished the job to secure the win for Battle Creek.

The Bombers now continue their road trip by traveling north to begin a two-game series against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. Dylan Rheault (Central Michigan) gets the start tomorrow night in game 1.

The Battle Creek Bombers are members of the prestigious Northwoods League that has more teams, plays more games, and draws more fans than any other summer collegiate baseball league in North America.
