Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers could not hold an early lead and fell 11-10 to the Duluth Huskies in game two of their three-game series.

After surrendering two runs in the top of the first inning, the Honkers' offense came alive with five in the bottom half ignited by a leadoff home run from the bat of right fielder Justin Parr (Illinois).

Duluth scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning before designated hitter Trevor Podratz (Hawaii) hit a long two-run home run in the bottom of the frame to put the Honkers up 8-4.

However Rochester starter Kevin Johnson (Illinois) could not keep the lead in tact as he gave up nine total runs (five earned) in his 5.0 innings of work to earn a no-decision. The fifth would prove to be the crucial inning with the Huskies scoring five runs to go back on top 9-8.

The Honkers answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth but gave the lead right back to Duluth in the top of the sixth to make the score 11-10.

No more runs would be scored in the game and the Honkers took the defeat.

Reid Love (St. Johns River State) was tagged with the loss to run his record to 1-1.

Reid Roper and Justin Parr each finished the night 3 for 4 in the loss.

The Honkers (6-11) and Huskies (10-7) will complete the three-game series on Saturday June 16th with the first pitch at 7:05 PM. Elliot Engle (Doane) will be on the bump for Rochester and he will face fellow right handed starter Joey Novak (Harvard). Engle is 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA and Novak is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.12.
