Rochester Honkers News Release
(Rochester, MN) - The Rochester Honkers were able to hold on to a close 2-1 lead that carried over from Thursday night's rain delayed series opener.
Honkers starter Tim Zufall (Oral Roberts) came back today after starting last night's game and pitched 3.0 more innings to pick up his first victory of the year in his first appearance.
Dakota Smith (Kansas) picked up the save (1) by striking out two and getting the last Huskies batter to fly out.
Nick Williams (Tennessee) pitched three very effective innings in relief for Rochester and did not surrender a run.
Offensively for the Honkers, Jared Allen (Tennessee) went 2 for 3 with a run scored and Michael Lukkason (Dakota Wesleyan) went 2 for 3 with an RBI.
The Honkers (6-10) and Huskies (9-7) will now play game two of the series. The Honkers send out Kevin Johnson (Illinois) to face Huskies starter Jonathon Meyer (Clemson).
