St. Cloud Rox News Release

The St. Cloud Rox dropped both games of a "doubleheader" at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato, MN. Game one, which the resumption of a game postponed by rain in the bottom of the fourth inning Thursday, went to the MoonDogs 3-0. Game two was a seven inning contest and was won by Mankato 8-1. The Rox have now lost six games in a row and are 5-11 on the season.

The teams were tied at zero in the fourth when the skies opened up on Thursday night, and both starting pitchers were cruising. However, with the game being moved to Sunday new "starting" pitchers had to be named. The Rox decided on Ben Meyer (Minnesota), while the MoonDogs countered with Zach Hall (Parkland).

Meyer pitched effectively but did not get much help from his offense, as the Rox managed just five hits in the game. Meyer lasted five innings and gave up three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two.

The MoonDogs jumped all over the Rox in the bottom of the first inning of game two and never looked back in an 8-1 game two win Friday night. Mankato scored six runs (only three earned) off St. Cloud starter Andy Urban (Creighton) in the bottom of the opening inning.

The Rox scored their lone run of the twin bill when Travis Enger (St Cloud State) singled down the right field line in the top of the sixth inning to plate Chris Paul and cut the MoonDog lead to 8- 1.

The Rox are back at home for the first time in seven days on Saturday for a matchup with Mankato. Scooby-Doo is scheduled to make an appearance and the Rox will be giving away team t-shirts to the first 500 fans through the gates. For tickets visit www.stcloudrox.com.
