Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The Battle Creek Bombers (7-3) scored eight runs on just eight hits Saturday night in front of their biggest crowd of the season as they took down the Wisconsin Woodchucks (6-3) 8-4 to claim sole possession of first place in the South division.
The Bombers used three multi-run innings to take down the Woodchucks. Caleb Vincent (W, 1-0) relieved starter Hunter Devall after Devall allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five in four innings. Vincent tossed three solid innings allowing two runs on seven hits. Gabe Berman (S, 1) came on for the six-out save and struck out four in the process.
On the offensive side for the Bombers, Mark Weist launched an RBI-triple in his first game back since opening day due to a nagging hamstring injury. Kade Scivicque scored two runs stemming from two base hits, and Jackson Glines knocked home a 2-RBI single in the bottom of the second.
Joey Rodriguez was the spark for the Woodchuck offense going 3-4 with two RBI's. Catcher Jordan Devencinzi also collected three hits and came around to score twice.
Battle Creek will play game two of a four game homestand on Sunday with first pitch coming at 5:05 ET. Cam Wysocki takes the mound for the Bombers on a Kids' Extravaganza and Senior Sunday.
