Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release
The Border Cats saw their record fall to 5-5 Friday night as they were blanked 9-0 by the Honkers in Rochester. The Honkers scored a pair of runs in the first inning, added one run in the 3rd and two more runs in the 6th. Alex Greer then put the game out of reach with the grand slam home run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Clint Knoblauch (Florida Gulf Coast University) started on the mound for the Cats, but lasted just 2 1/3 innings in taking the loss. The righthander gave up three runs on three hits while walking five and striking out one. Zach Thiac (Nicholls State University) was the lone bright spot for the Thunder Bay bullpen as the lefthander pitched 2 2/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts. Thiac lowered his ERA to 2.53.
The Cats managed only six hits with Michael Foster (Northeastern University) going 1-4 with a double. The Cats conclude their four game road trip tonight in Rochester at 8:05pm ET. Righthander Daniel Stoney (Madonna University) will get the start for Thunder Bay.
