PREVIEW OF TONIGHT'S GAME
THE FINALE: Tonight, the Dayton Bombers host the Toledo Storm in the teams' final game of the 2001-2002 regular season. Going into today's last day of ECHL regular season play, the first-place Bombers (39-20-12, 90 PTS) are two points ahead of the second-place Peoria Rivermen (40-23-8, 88 PTS). The Bombers can clinch the division title for the first time in their 11-season franchise history if they either gain at least one point tonight OR see Peoria not win in its home game today against the Reading Royals. Last night, the Bombers were blanked 3-0 by the Wheeling Nailers at the HammerDome. Dylan Gyori had two goals for Wheeling in the win, while Kurt Drummond also scored. The Bombers are 5-3-2 against Toledo this season and 3-1-1 in games played at the Nutter Center. It is certain that the Bombers will host game one of a Northwest Division Semifinal series at the Nutter Center this Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., but the opponent will not be decided until after today's play. It was also announced today by the ECHL that Bombers' defenseman Bill McCauley has been named to the All-ECHL First Team. McCauley is tied for third among ECHL defenseman with 53 points and tied for fifth with 15 goals. He becomes the fourth Dayton defenseman to earn First-Team honors joining Tom Nemeth, a three-time honoree, Steve Lingren, and Brandon Smith.
