Bombers' 2007 Schedule Announced
February 14, 2007 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Canadian Football League released its 2007 schedule today and it contains plenty of good news and interesting match-ups for fans of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Big Blue hit the field at Canad Inns Stadium for the first time in 2007 when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the annual Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, June 14 in Winnipeg's exhibition season home-opener. They close out the pre-season with a Friday, June 22 game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Ivor Wynne Stadium.
Winnipeg opens the regular season on the road on Thursday, June 28 when it plays the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium. The Bombers play their regular season home-opener on Thursday, July 5 when they take on the arch-rival Montreal Alouettes in the first of three regular season meetings between the two clubs.
A couple of players to watch in 2007 will be slotback Milt Stegall and running back Charles Roberts. Stegall needs just two more touchdowns to set the new CFL record for career TDs while Roberts needs just 771 more yards to surpass Leo Lewis as the Bombers' all-time rushing yardage leader.
Winnipeg's 2007 schedule will feature plenty of Friday night excitement. Six of the Blue Bombers' nine regular season home games will take place on Friday nights (July 13 vs Edmonton, July 27 vs Hamilton, Aug. 24 vs Toronto, Oct. 5 vs B.C., Oct. 19 vs Calgary, Nov. 2 vs Montreal).
One of the biggest games of the year for the Blue & Gold will take place Sunday, Sept. 9 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the fourth annual Banjo Bowl at Canad Inns Stadium. It will be the second of back-to-back games between the two clubs and the final regular season meeting between the two long-time rivals.
Winnipeg and Hamilton will have plenty of opportunities to get reacquainted this coming season. The Bombers and Ti-Cats will meet four times during the regular season (Friday, July 27 at Canad Inns Stadium, Aug. 3, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 29 at Canad Inns Stadium).
