B.C. Lions News Release

The defending Grey Cup champion BC Lions Football Club will kickoff the 2007 CFL regular season with visit to the site of the 2007 Grey Cup when they take on the Toronto Argonauts on Thursday, June 28.

The rest of the recently released 2007 Lions schedule includes two Thursday night home games, three Friday night match-ups and four Saturday night games under the dome.

"We are very pleased with the 2007 schedule and I believe our fans will be too," said Lions' president and CEO Bob Ackles. "With games falling on Thursdays and Fridays during the summer and Saturday nights in the fall, I believe we have the blend of dates that Lions supporters have indicated they prefer."

The Lions will open their home schedule versus the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday, July 6 and will host the Green and Gold again on Saturday, October 20. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will look to avenge their playoff loss last year when they come knocking on Thursday, August 2. The Calgary Stampeders visit BC Place twice in the second half of the schedule - Saturday, September 29 and again on Saturday, November 3 to close out the regular season.

"I'm excited about our home schedule," said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. "From a player and fan standpoint, playing on Thursday and Friday nights in the first half of the season gives us an advantage and playing our final three home games versus West Division opponents will be very exciting," he added

Reigning East Division champion Montreal Alouettes will make the trek west on Friday, August 31 while the new-look Toronto Argonauts make their lone trip to Vancouver on Saturday, September 15. Hamilton and Winnipeg will be looking for tough road wins when they travel to the west coast on Thursday, July 19 and Friday August 10 respectively.

The Lions will face off against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at home during the pre-season on Friday, June 15 and then travel to Edmonton on Thursday, June 21.
